A Simple Instruction To Make Fried Green Tomatoes At Home

2 green tomatoes

½ cup of mayo

½ tablespoon of Dijon mustard

5ml of lemon juice


½ teaspoon of whole-grain mustard

1 clove of garlic

½ teaspoon of capers


Worcestershire sauce

Louisiana sauce

Cayenne pepper

Smoked paprika

½ cup of cornmeal

¼ cup of bread crumbs

¾ cup of white flour

Onion powder

White pepper

Garlic powder

1 egg

 ¼ cup of buttermilk

How to make fried green tomatoes

Step 1: Cut 2 tomatoes into slices, and put them on a parchment paper in a baking sheet. Next, add sprinkle a bit of salt on them. Then, leave it there in about 1 hour.

Step 2: In a large bowl, you can put ½ cup of mayo, ½ tablespoon of Dijon mustard, 5ml of lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon of whole-grain mustard

Step 3: Chop 1 clove of garlic and scallions, and add them to the bowl.

Step 4: Chop ½ teaspoon of capers. Next, add them and a little bit of Worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika and Louisiana sauce to the mixture. Then, mix them well by a whisk. That’s all we need to do to have the sauce for the fried green tomatoes.

Step 5: Put ½ cup of cornmeal and ¼ cup of bread crumbs in bowl 1, ¾ cup of white flour, a bit of onion powder, white pepper, salt and garlic powder in bowl 2, then mix them until they combine by a whisk. Next, for the bowl 3, we have 1 egg and ¼ cup of buttermilk, and mix them.

Step 6: For this step, put tomato in the bowl 3, then move it to the bowl 2, and do the same things one more time. Then move it to bowl 1 to have it fully covered.  Do the same steps for other tomatoes.

Step 7: Finally, turn the heat on, and boil them until they are fully cooked and have golden color. It’s time to enjoy them.
