How to make chocolate chip cinnamon rolls

  1. In a small sauce pan, melt the butter, sugar, cream and salt over medium heat, stirring constantly until combined. Once the mixture has come to a boil, let simmer for a minute. Set aside to slightly cool.
  2. In a round 10-inch baking dish, add half of the caramel sauce. Arrange the cinnamon rolls over the caramel, making sure to leave space in between the rolls. Add remaining caramel sauce but make sure to reserve 1/4 cup of the remaining caramel sauce for later.
  3. Top with chocolate chips. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Remove from the oven and immediately pour the reserved caramel. Serve warm.

Modifications

Chocolate Chips. We use semi-sweet chocolate chips, feel free to substitute with dark chocolate.

Peanut Butter. If you are crazy for peanut butter, add a couple tablespoons to the caramel sauce for a rich peanut buttery cinnamon rolls.

Cinnamon Rolls. If you can’t find the larger Grand Cinnamon Rolls, feel free to use the regular canned cinnamon rolls and grab an extra package as they are smaller. Note that they don’t get as fluffy as the Grands.

Bite Size Pieces. If you want this to be similar to a monkey bread, feel free to quarter the cinnamon rolls before adding them to the baking dish. We have done that too and they are delicious.
